Finally finished...

The capes are finally finished! Now the grandbabies will be all fixed up for Sunday. I ended up using one of my old standby patterns as the other two new ones did not work up pretty in the yarn that I was using. I know better than to try a new pattern when I am pushing a deadline - but I did it anyway. They are finished though and that is what counts. I just need to wash and block them tonight. I will take them by DD's office tomorrow and give them to her.
The photo is not really good but they actually turned out very pretty. I am pleased with them anyway.
And...I added some more yarn to my stash today - we really may need to start sleeping on it as DH says :) But it was such a good deal and I have such a weakness for yarn. It was...On sale...That is just too good to pass up. Smiley's yarn is having a blow-out sale this month. They have LB Boucle for .99 per ball. There is no limit on the quantity you can order but the colors are very limited. I bought several for prayer shawls. They also have some great buys on some other yarns so might want to check them out. Have a blessed Easter all :)
Happy Knitting :)

rip...rip...rip...

I have almost completed one of my granddaughter's capes for Easter. This of course is the third pattern - I did not like the other two - thus the frogging. I have another one to go for my other granddaughter and since it is only 4 more days to Easter it is easy to see that I will be burning some late night oil :)
I did get two pair of loomed baby tube booties done so I can at least say that I have accomplished something.
Well...back to the capes...
Happy Knitting :)

Fixed - I hope!

The DSL online saga continues as I have worked the past two days trying to get my email to work. I can receive just fine but I can't send anything - which for some people that would be a blessing :) But I have reworked the settings and tried a little of everything and then tonight it started working. I don't know if it was something I did and if it was - I don't know what! But I am just thankful that it started working again. Now maybe I can move on to other things and get some of my projects finished. I am working on baby hats this week as I need to get 70 done to send to the hospital next week. I have been doing them on the loom as this is a nice change and they make lovely hats. I am using the RH Baby Clouds that I told you about and it makes a wonderful little hat. Here is a photo so you can see. Goodnight all - knit on.... :)

DSL Finally

Well, our DSL has finally been completed so we are back online - yeah!!!! Boy, I missed the web - never knew I was so addicted to it. I have been keeping up with my groups when I could slip on at work but I miss the chats at night. But anyway, here I am. The only drawback is now that we are DSL I have lost all my dial-up sites and such so I have started new sites and blogs. I will update as I can so be patient with me. Computers are great but when they crash - boy you lose a lot!
OT - I have bought some RH Baby Clouds yarn to make super preemie hats on my loom. It is a super bulky yarn but works up very quickly and makes a soft fluffy hat for the babies. I think they will turn out very nice.
Happy Knitting :)

A New Stitch

Today is my birthday so I thought that it would be a good time to add a new stitch into my life's memory afghan....a blog. I love the web - it gives everyone an opportunity to share their thoughts, exchange ideas, trade patterns and develop friendships with others who love the same things. I have been surfing and lurking for about five years now so I thought that I would take the plunge and become a member of the blogging crowd. So here we go.....

I guess I should start by telling something about myself. Well, my husband and I live in a small town with our two toy poodles - Mickey and Minnie - yes, I love Disney :) We live in the family homeplace which is a joy considering the memories and special character - an experience when something tears up and needs to be repaired or replaced. None the less we are very happy and content as we have been very blessed. Our two daughters are grown, married and have homes and families of their own so we are now part of the empty nesters set! Although, it does leave more time for crafts and a quiet life :)

I love fiber arts and all crafts pertaining to it! I have a terrible yarn and fiber addiction - LOL! Some of my other addictions are:
- Spinning - hand spindles and spinning wheel - I am a beginner at both but I have developed a real love for it. There is a special quiet inner feeling as you sit and letting the fibers slip through your fingers and watch it twist into the lovely yarns.
- Knitting - I hand knit and loom knit. I have started round loom and rake knitting within the last year and it is great. If you love the knitted look but cannot knit with needles this is the craft for you.
- Crocheting - actually this was my first love as I started crocheting before my children were born - which was many moons ago!
- Weaving - potholders mostly, but it is a craft that I find relaxing.
- Sewing - I have been sewing for years - back since high school, and yes they did have sewing machines back then :)
- Collecting - of course, collecting! All yarn addicts collect - LOL. We have extensive yarn stashes, pattern stashes, hooks, needles, looms, spindles, and more...that is what happens when you have "the love of the yarns."

Almost all of my projects are for charity as I love my charity work. I am a member of Ship Support, AC4C, Prayer Shawl Ministry and my special love, Teeny Tiny Treasures. Charity work has been such a blessing for me and I feel that once you begin you cannot stop.

Well, enough for a beginning so I will stop here. Keep spinning all....
"she seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands." Proverbs 31:13
Happy Knitting :)
